A couple of minutes drive away are the small ski lifts of Formica and Via Nova with restaurant three ski lifts and artificial snow making facilities. The nearest large market town, Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, is 15km away It has supermarkets, banks, garages and all manner of other shops, services and sporting facilities as well as a train station on the line from Lucca and Pisa airport. The much larger ski resort of Abetone is about 1 hour away. The coast is less than 30 miles (46km) away over the marble mountains of Carrara, making Careggine an ideal location for holidays all year round.
